THUNDER OVER LOUISVILLE TO BE REBROADCAST FOR JULY 4TH
A ritual of spring in Kentucky will be showcased to celebrate the nation's Independence Day on July 4. The Kentucky Derby Festival's 2009 Opening Ceremonies, Thunder Over Louisville, will be rebroadcast both locally and around the world this week.
WHAS-TV, the local ABC affiliate, exclusively aired the original air show and fireworks coverage on April 18 of this year and has produced a two-hour edited HD version that will be shown on the American Forces Network on July 4. All together, the Thunder broadcast will be seen by more than one million U.S. Armed Forces personnel and Department of Defense civilian employees and their families stationed overseas in 176 countries and U.S. territories, as well as aboard more than 140 U.S. Navy ships at sea. The show features the entire 30-minute fireworks show as well as portions of the air show and other Thunder Day activities.
WHAS will also air a two-hour version of Thunder that includes the fireworks from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4th.
A one-hour condensed version of Thunder Over Louisville, with video provided by WHAS, will be broadcast by KET this week. The show will air on these KET1, KETKY and KET 2 at the following times:

Thunder Over Louisville - the Derby Festival's Opening Ceremonies - is
one of the more than 70 events produced by the Derby Festival in the
spring. The 2009 Thunder Over Louisville, themed "Thunder Road," was
the 20th annual production. The show was sponsored this year by E.ON
U.S., Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, Meijer, UPS and community McDonald's
