THUNDER DAY AIR SHOW CHANGES
2005-04-23T08:46:49
Thunder Air Bosses Charlie Lynn and Mike Riordan talked to more than 100 Thunder pilots at Friday evening's Pilot Briefing at the Galt House Hotel.
Air show to change due to weather conditions
The current status of factors that affect the Thunder air show are:
Ceiling Height (Cloud Cover): 2100 feet
Winds: 15 -17 mph with gusts up to 30
Precipitation: Chance of showers
Says Mike Riordan, a Thunder Air Boss, “We will be able to get a variety of aircraft in the air today, but absolutely no jumpers. There will be cloud cover all day, we would just like to see the ceiling height come up.”
With cloud cover under 3000 feet, all acts will be performing their “low” or “flat” shows. Vertical maneuvering will be extremely limited. The air show will change all day as the ceilings and winds shift. Acts will be cancelled, added or extended. Thunder air show officials will work to fill the sky with entertainment beginning at 3 pm until 9:27 pm.
Thunder spectators began arriving by 6 am this morning setting up tents on the Great Lawn and Ashland Park on the Indiana side. With temperatures in the 40’s and windchills in the 30’s, overall attendance is expected to be down.
Thunder on the Ground activities will proceed as planned, opening at 11 am.
