EXPERIENCE THUNDER ON THE GROUND!
You can do a lot more at Thunder Over Louisville this year than simply look to the sky. There will be plenty of activities on the ground to entertain friends and family members as well. From the Thunder FoodFest to the Interactive Display Area to the Kid's Play Areas on the Great Lawn, there's refreshments and entertainment galore to be found all over the venue. Some attractions require a 2008 Pegasus Pin admission, but some activities are completely free. Most are open from 11 a.m. until the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. The 2008 show is sponsored by Caesars Indiana, E.ON U.S., Meijer and UPS.
Some of the activities include:
- The Ford Experience Tour: This 8,000-square-foot mobile marketing initiative on the South Great Lawn will feature the latest Ford trucks, cars and SUV's, including the Ford Super Duty, the new Mustang Bullitt, Fusion and Escape. The attraction offers an array of skill competitions, interactive vehicle displays and the opportunity to win exciting prizes, including the choice of a new Ford vehicle or up to $45,000.
- Also on the South Great Lawn, the Indy 500 Fan Tour and 400 at the Brickyard Fan Tour will make their Thunder debuts. The Indy 500 Fan Tour will feature a full-size IndyCar Series simulator, various collectibles from drivers who competed in the Indianapolis 500 and pieces of brick and asphalt from the famed 2.5-mile oval. The Brickyard Fan Tour will feature a cutaway of a NASCAR race car which reveals the inner workings of the car to fans, the 400 at the Brickyard trophy and driver memorabilia.
- Kid's Play Areas: The interactive attractions on the South Great Lawn include a Tiger Slide, Dragon's Castle, Moon Bounce, Putt-Putt, Roswell Obstacle, First Down, Fun Slide, Fun House, Rock-O-Plane and Midway Games.
- The Thunder FoodFest will offer a wide variety of tasty treats from more than 115 food vendors from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Chow Wagon, Great Lawn, West Belvedere, and along Witherspoon Street and East River Road. Beer Gardens, with Pegasus Pin admission, will be open at the Chow Wagon, West Belvedere and East River Road (near the Orange Lot).
