FORD'S THUNDER ON THE GROUND

You can do a lot more at Thunder Over Louisville than simply look to the sky. There will be plenty of activities on the ground to entertain friends and family members as well. From the Thunder FoodFest to the Interactive Display Area to the Kid's Play Areas on the Great Lawn, there's refreshments and entertainment galore to be found all over the venue. Some attractions require a 2010 Pegasus Pin admission, but some activities are completely free. Most are open from 11 a.m. until the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

Some of the activities include:


  • Tumbleweed BoomTown: At Boomtown, you'll find everything you need to kick back, relax and enjoy the splendor of Thunder: great views, a fun zone for the kids, plus plenty of food, drinks and restroom facilities.  All leading up to one of the best views of Thunder and with access to the official Thunder soundtrack.  Best of all - entry into Boomtown is completely FREE!  For information visit www.TumbleweedBoomtown.com or call (502) 618-8323.
  • Stop by the Ford Drive One Tour on April 16 at Thunder Over Louisville to check out the latest Ford vehicles, including the 2012 Focus with all-new interior styling and the 2011 F150 EcoBoost. Experience the latest in technology including the SYNC with MyFord Touch demonstration which controls most devices in your vehicle using touch-sensitive buttons, touch screens, thumb-wheel controls and voice recognition. The attraction offers an array of skill competitions, interactive vehicle displays and the opportunity to win exciting prizes, including the choice of a new Ford vehicle of your choice up to $30,000.  So stop by and see us at the Ford Display!
  • Kid's Play Areas: The interactive attractions on the South Great Lawn include a Merry go Round, Rock Wall, Super Slide, Ala-Baba magic carpet, Moon Bounce and Obstacle Course.
  • The Thunder FoodFest will offer a wide variety of tasty treats from more than 115 food vendors from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Chow Wagon, Great Lawn, West Belvedere, and along Witherspoon Street and East River Road. Beer Gardens, with Pegasus Pin admission, will be open at the Chow Wagon and West Belvedere.
  • McDonald's Restaurants of Kentuckiana McCafe display - McDonald's Restaurants of Kentuckiana invites you to visit the McCafe Sampling vehicle, located on the south great lawn. Beginning at 2 p.m.,you're invited to try a FREE sample of the new McDonald's Frappe. Friendly staff will be on hand to share more information about all that McDonald's has to offer. McDonald's is proud to sponsor Thunder Over Louisville for the fifth consecutive year through the Thunder Funder Program. McDonald's Restaurants of Kentuckiana. I'm Lovin' It.
  •  Pegasus Pin trading fans can add to their collections by visiting the following locations on Thunder Day: 2nd and Main streets (NE corner); Witherspoon in front of the Chow Wagon, 4th and River Road (West side of median); and Preston and Witherspoon (NE corner).
  • Official Derby Festival Merchandise, including ThunderWear, will be available at nine locations throughout the venue; the Waterfront Chow Wagon, South Great Lawn, East Great Lawn, Southern Indiana, 2nd Street and River Road 3rd Street and River Road, 4th Street and River Road, Preston and Witherspoon, River Road near Boomtown.
  • Don’t Miss Merchant Row along Witherspoon. Vendors will be selling everything from sunglasses, straw hats and sound-activated shirts to personalized Piggy Banks and hand-drawn caricatures.
